Curriculum

We proudly use a combination of our own award-winning curriculums and supplement our academic catalog with support lessons from The Good and the Beautiful and Charlotte Mason (among others). The Charlotte Mason Methods, are an educational philosophy that emphasizes the development of a child’s character and intellect through rich literature, nature study, and hands-on experiences. This approach fosters a love of learning and encourages students to engage with their environment and the world around them. The Good and the Beautiful is a curriculum with a strong sense of independent study. We also use our Adaptive Friends curriculum as well as other materials that effectively bridge the gap between our curriculum, the Charlotte Mason approach and the Virginia State curriculum. This ensures a well-rounded and comprehensive educational experience tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.

Enrichment

At Phoenix Nova School, we believe in a well-rounded education that nurtures creativity and physical wellness alongside core academics. Each day, students enjoy forty-five minute specials that include a diverse array of subjects such as art, music, cooking, nature, creative writing, filmmaking, entrepreneurship,  dance, theatre, and physical education. These engaging specials not only foster artistic expression and physical fitness but also help students develop valuable life skills and social interactions. By incorporating these enriching activities into our curriculum, we aim to create a dynamic learning environment that inspires every child's passion and creativity.

STEAM

At Phoenix Nova School, we recognize the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in fostering innovative thinking and problem-solving skills. Our approach integrates STEAM into our everyday curriculum to ensure that every student, regardless of their background or ability, has the opportunity to explore and succeed in these vital areas.

In addition to our comprehensive STEAM curriculum, we offer unique workshops, enrichment classes, and engaging camps that allow students to dive deeper into these subjects. From robotics and coding to art and design challenges, our hands-on experiences inspire creativity and critical thinking while encouraging collaboration among peers. With a passionate team of educators and community experts, we create an inclusive environment where every student can discover their interests and talents within STEAM, preparing them for future success. Join us in cultivating a love for learning through exploration and innovation!
